When Peter and Gabor Ovari set out to make a fine fruit brandy, it was for no other reason than they loved making it, drinking it and sharing it!
Ol' Castle comes to you after an 8-year journey that saw Peter and Gabor spend 1000's of hours – mastering distillation treatments and processes, customising brewing equipment, and experimenting with original recipes and different varieties of local fruit.
Now they are proud to share their passion and product with the world!

Ol' Castle is distilled pure.
Did you know that most spirits (around 95%) are made from a base of grain alcohol – which is a purified form of ethyl alcohol (ethanol) made from the distillation of fermented grain.
Grain alcohol is a clear liquid, with no colour, no smell, and no taste. The big brand spirit makers take this base and infuse it with various flavours to make their product.
At Ol' Castle, we prefer to do things the traditional way - by brewing and distilling our alcohol from the fermentation of real New Zealand fruit.
Why? We believe distilling from real fruit produces a superior flavour and is faithful to the authentic origins of our beverage.
Ol' Castle is also reduced to bottle strength using only the addition of pure New Zealand rainwater – no preservatives or artificial flavours are added at any stage.
